Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to cover White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
